1: Royal Grill Halal Food
W 44 Street between 6th and 7th Avenue
New York, NY 10036
First stop of this tour is Royal Grill Halal Food in Midtown. They are the Vendy Awards 2018 Vendy Cup Champions. The cart is owned by a couple from Bangladesh. Here, we ordered their signature dish, a chicken tikka masala. But, we ordered it with no white sauce or hot sauce, just a little green sauce. And, their mango pickle is a MUST, although you need to specifically ask them for it.
2: Kwik Meal
W 45th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue
New York, NY 10036
Up next, we visited Kwik Meal, another well-known Halal cart just one block from Royal Grill. The cart was opened by a former chef at The Russian Tea Room, a high end restaurant in Manhattan. Fittingly, the cart serves higher-end Halal food with higher quality ingredients. Here, we ordered lamb over rice. This plate was the most expensive of the night at $9, but worth every penny. Plenty of actual slices of lamb along with real tzatziki sauce.
