I’ve never been to Taipei but that pork knuckle ice cream sounds so intense. I love pork dishes but never had thought to eat it in ice cream form. Interesting that the basil had more of an ice cream consistency.
I would go for the Basil ice cream, but having had pork ice cream before, I would definitely give it a pass. Like you said, once in a lifetime! I think the sticky rice flavor actually sounds delicious!
I am not use to rice for breakfast, but hey i would try it!
I’d love to visit Taipei! Did you see many vegetarian food options there? I might just have to eat icecream the whole time if everythings drowning in pork Any meatless icecream flavours at least?? An all icecream diet would be the worst thing in the world…
The ice cream flavors have me a bit. I imagine the basil is pretty tasty. And, as someone with some joint issues myself, this might be an interesting alternative to bone broth (maybe? maybe not?). I do wonder what sticky rice ice cream tastes like because I feel like so much of the food itself is the texture…Well…I guess I’ll have to plan a trip! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love 50 Lan, and braised pork rice too. Some of my other Taiwanese favourite foods are the pancake roll with ice cream and crushed peanuts inside; and of course yam balls !
Taipei is a city that is slowly emerging as a sought-after destination for travellers. I can see that there is a lot of Pork on offer in the eateries. Not sure of how the vegan and vegetarian options are there. I am sure there would be dishes made of rice or noodles with veggies available, like many other countries in SE Asia.
Pork knuckle ice cream?! Not gonna lie, that sounds horrendous haha, especially with pieces of cartilage mixed in!! So glad that you tried it though so that I don’t have to! Sounds like a very adventurous trip!
I haven’t been to Taiwan and know very little about Taiwanese food and so appreciate getting a chance to learn more about the dishes and flavors. I’d like to try everything, even the pork knuckle ice cream, but only a spoonful or two, as I like my ice cream on the sweeter side. 🙂
